Project 6: Positive Negative

This was a fun project. I hope I didn't complicate it. I tried cropping different designs to create, not only negative and positive space, but to also create something cool to look at. The one I'm p osting reminds me of a tribal design. It seems very warrior-like! There are several others on fotothing. I hope you all enjoy!

Hi Everyone, this is outcome of my cropped letterform project. I chose the letter P and had a lot of fun incorporating the different filters as well as learning to use the new fx function. I loved the S crop Jerry did and tried to find something that would give me something similar but couldn't. Oh well, I do like how these came out.

This is the cut & pasted piece of the P:

And these are a couple of the finished products:

Project 11

I am learning a lot of good stuff from these projects, it's so much fun once you get the hang of it. Not an easy task, these take hours and hours to get the hang creating the correct design. I really like the project instructions.

Quarter Circle Project

Here's my quarter circle project pieces. I don't have words to describe this project. It was interesting how one piece of one circle could make so many different combinations which make many different patterns. I liked learning the new FX function which gave me more options.

Project 10

This just gets more and more exciting but a little harder with each new project.

Project 9 Cropped Letter Form

I really liked this one as well, as my kids would say this is cool! I think I'm getting the hang of this photoshop program.

Project 10

Project 10 provided me with a challenge. Or it could be the fact that I have been working on my computer for hours now too! This is my last project for the today. I was trying to create this vision I had in my head and could not accomplish it. It worked much better for me when I just went with the flow and did a little of this and that. I love the cloud effect. I also liked towards the end when I experimented with color. Till next time.

Back to work

Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving this weekend... now it's back to work and the big push heading towards the Christmas break!

Overall I'm very impressed with your work in progress, everyone... keep up the good work!

Project 9

Project 9... here it is. I have taken my first letter of my name ... letter P and rotated it, copied it, colored it, and finally added some effects to it. My 4 pieces include the beginning print, then the copied print, then the colored print with a stained glass effect and finally, I selected the whole thing and put another effect called, glass I believe. Not positive on that one. I really like the way it came out.

Project 8

Project 8 went rather smoothly, although it took me a while to find my creative style. I finally decided to go with this set up. I call it "school of orcas" because that is what I see when I look at it. I wasn't trying to make orcas, they just came to me. I love it!

Stamp Project

I picked a four leaf clover because I need the luck of the Irish to complete this class! This is the cut I used.

I used different filters and I like how they came out. I've posted on fotothing.com. I used the texture filter on the first one and the mosaic texture on the second.

my first two tries- these are both 50/50

Quarter Circle Project

Here is my project piece. I tried to build upon the pattern adding a different fx option as I went along. I like the way the piece changes as you go from the first to the last one. I did two different patterns. You can see them on http://www.fotothing.com/rpmkpell/. Here is the pattern piece I started with:

I got this pattern from it:

Which I changed up like this:

I had fun again with this project. There are so many colors and filters to work with so many variations of each that you could change up the same piece indefinitely. I did four different subject pieces and posted the one I thought came out the best.

This is the piece I cut and started with:

And these are what I ended up with:

these are my first two tries at the letters- im just tryin to catch up to you guys!! im getting left in the dust- i feel like i'm workin with PS experts!!lol

I did three variations of project 7 . A tree, lightning, and a wave, which was my favorite. Like Jerry said I am starting to get the hang of copying and pasting, and making canvas sizes much easier now. I am even getting the hang of rotating a little better. I didn't realize we should be doing 2 projects a week until this weekend so I have been playing catch up a little. I have one more to go... project 8 to get on track.

Mirrored Images

I just finished working with the mirrored images using the color inverses and such. My simple images came out a lot cooler than I thought they would - makes you appreciate the aesthetic of a pattern!

Enjoy!

This is my positive and negative space project. Since I am using Photoshop Element 8 it took me a while to find the tools that Jerry uses in the ps4 program. They are not called the same. Thank god for the help menu. I would have liked to boarder the negative space one and the 50-50 but I could not figure out how to do that in my program. I like my smiling man much better than the letters. I hope this was okay to change it up a little.
