I posted my project on fotothings. I created them using Photoshop CS4 that Jerry recommended we download. It took me a while to figure out the border but I did it!! I hope these are creative enough and still fall within the scope of what we were supposed to do this week. I noticed my words weren't all the same size. Is that okay? All feedback is welcomed. Thanks for your time. Blog U soon :)

Project 1 "The Dot"

I created this using the Photoshop Elements 8. I found Jerry's instructional video very helpful. I like choosing just the right adjective to go with a dot. At first I thought how does this go together, then I created one and new exactly what this dot was saying. Great Fun!

Hi! My fotothing account can be found at the following link.
Thanks, Rita

Hi Everyone, my name is Rita Pellegrino. I live in Hamden with my husband of almost 20 years, my 18 year old son, and my 11 year old daughter. I'm trying to finish up my bachelors and need 9 credits to complete. I'm okay on the computer, surfing the internet, and using Office products but this is my first blog. I'm looking forward to taking the class and hope I pick up on using photoshop & gimp products. I've looked them over and have to say I'm a little scared! Good luck to everyone in this class. I'm sure we'll have fun.

Hi, my name is Rhonda. It took forever but I am starting to get how this works. I am not computer savy and I have never blogged, just found out about facebook, and am trying to find out what a twitter is. I've lived in New Haven my whole life until I bought a house in East Haven . I have one daughter and two grandchildren. They keep me busy! But not as much as work does. I have worked in the helicopter industry for 22 years. I've worked my way up into a management position and now I need to finish my last four classes for my Bachelors degree. I work with Rita and we have gone through the program together for support as we balance eachother well with different interests. At least that is what the test results said from our Psychology class. This is going to be a very challenging class for me because I am in completely unknown territory as I'd rather have a book in my hand instead of a keyboard. However, I am up to the challenge, I look forward to getting my feet wet with this internet stuff, so please bear with me. I am having problems downloading Photoshop due to my processor being 1.66 instead of the required 1.8. Anyone have any suggestion other than updating my processor? Let me know. I appreciate any assistance.

Hi Everyone!

My fotothing account is setup - http://www.fotothing.com/jplyman - and have photoshop on my computer. Are we also required to download Gimp, or is one image editing program okay? I wasn't sure if one had features that the other does not.

I've had a couple classes with Jerry and really enjoyed them. He definitely challenges you to dive into your creativity and see things in a different light. The day program is doing some awesome stuff - looks a bit daunting, but I'm sure as we walk through all the steps the pieces will come together.

Looking forward to a great mod!!

Hi veryone- I downloaded GIMP and after investigating a few you-tubes that were geared toward specific tasks as opposed to general use info. , I found the following link to the REAL GIMP USERS MANUAL- I could not figure out how to download it but...here it is:

Hi, my name is Chris Sullivan and I’m 34 years old. I live in Wallingford, CT. with my wife, Erin, and my dog, Gabbie. We are expecting a baby in March and I’m taking this opportunity to go back to school and babysit at the same time. Currently, I own a landscape design build company but my ultimate goal is to become a nurse practitioner.
This class is my first class in the Albertus Magnus ADP program, not to mention my first online class - Any pointers would be appreciated. I am working toward my BSN (nursing) as a career change. After 20 years of landscaping, I’ve decided to pursue a new career which offers more family time and consistent work schedule.
Hopefully, my hobbies will fulfill the desire for hard labor and outdoor’s freedom. I like to compete in triathlons (run, bike, swim). These events can be grueling much like a hard day landscaping. I also like solving problems which will keep me satisfied at work.
Good luck to Everyone.

Hello Everyone! My name is Jessica Sandler and this is my 5th class with Jerry! I truly enjoy his classes and the work we get to do. I am in my 3rd year here at AMC. I am a wife, mother of a 3 1/2 year old and a manager. I enjoy photography and listening to all types of music. I look forward to another exciting mod with you all. Here is a picture of my son Ryan. This is one of my favorite pictures from this year (Titled: A Mother's Dream). We took a trip to Virginia Beach and we stopped by "Obama's House" (As Ryan refers to it!)
Good luck all!

Introduction

Hi everyone,

This is my 3rd class with Jerry. I have taken digital photography and Intro to computer art. All good challenging experiences. I am an art major and hope to graduate in 2011. I'm not a computer expert so I am a little nervous even though I made through my last computer class just fine. These are my two sons Jake age 12 and Gabe age 9. When I'm not at a game of one kind or another I am doing homework for school. My husband John and I have been married for 15 years. I hope to become an art teacher, I chose art because I enjoy it and I love working with children. I currently work at a FRC - family resource center in East Haven with children ages 3-4. My motto is to do what you like and like what you do, that makes a happy person.

Hi Everyone!

Hello everyone! I am Genese Calloway and am beginning my last MOD at Albertus! I have been on this undergrad journey since 1998 when I started at Boston College. Long story short, I have wonderfully creative 8yo daughter who wants to be a fashion designer and am engaged to be married in 6 months to a fabulous man who puts up with me. :) I have always been a lover of art, and within the last couple of years, have really taken an interest in the digital world. The picture that I am including is of myself and my fiance and was taken on the East Haven beach during our engagement photo shoot.

I have taken several classes with Jerry, and have loved all the classes so far. I'm sure this will be no different! See you all on the blog!

Welcome to Class!

To get things started, let me tell you a bit about myself.... I have been teaching full time at Albertus Magnus College for the past 30 years and am grateful for the opportunity to spend my life working with students who want to learn more about art. I've been married for the past 34 years, and have 2 wonderful sons, 26 and 29. My older son is married and has an almost 2 year old son. That's Kieran and me at the helm of our sailboat this summer... We were blessed to have another grandson born this past Monday! For now, everyone is together at our house so we are doubly blessed.....

My main interest is photography and I earned an M.F.A. in still photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. At Albertus I teach not only Photography but a range of other courses which include Digital Photography both online and face to face, Foundation Design (2-D and 3-D), Graphic Design, Ceramics, Intro to Computer Art, 20th Century Art History and The Museum Experience.

To learn more about me, take a look around at my web site, http://jnevins.com. You can find a statement of my teaching philosophy (very student centered), syllabi from my other classes, a resume (called a Curriculum Vita in academic circles), tutorials on digital photography issues, portfolios of my work and more.

I look forward to working with you!
